Living Trusts

A living trust is a document that transfers property to a trustee for the benefit of other people beneficiaries. A living trust is so called because it is created while the grantor of the trust assets is alive.

A living trust is most commonly used to avoid probate. If an individual passes away without a trust they will be forced into probate court to administer the individuals assets. In California the probate process is slow and expensive so most middle class families use living trusts to avoid probate.
